Archaeological Discoveries Downtown

In recent decades we have seen multiple archeological discoveries being made along the river in downtown Miami and in Brickell.  It seems that every excavated site in the area continues to reveal more and more evidence that the Miami River was a densely populated place for more than two thousand years.

One would expect that such ancient archeological discoveries would be a matter of civic pride prompting preservation but that is certainly not the case in Miami. In fact, since Flagler and Tuttle’s 1896 original desecrations, an appalling of desecration has continued to be the norm. The Miami developers seem to see these discoveries as an obstacle to what they call progress
